Request a Police or Accident Report
Only people involved in an incident or their legal representatives can get copies of the police report. Police reports are free to authorized parties and may take up to 10 days to provide. Accident reports are available online for a $5 fee.
For police records not related to a crime or accident, see how to request a public record.
In many cases, you do not need a full police report to meet documentation requirements:
- For banks and insurance companies, a case number is usually sufficient and can be provided more quickly.
- For proof of a police call for service in Family Court cases, Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) information will generally meet the judge’s requirements.
Case Numbers
We can provide case numbers over the phone. To get a case number, call:
- Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm: Records Department at 925-943-5890
- After hours: Dispatch at 925-943-5844
- To report a crime, please click on the I Want To... tab above for assistance.

Reports with information relating to people who were 17 or younger when the incident occurred require additional documentation.
